There are two hot spots around water contention on the globe right now. There are fears that China could divert/restrict water from the Himalayas that normally supplies much of Indochina.

Also Egypt is not happy with Ethiopia for building a dam near the source of the Nile which could cause major stagnation issues downstream as the Nile is one of the slowest of the large rivers in the world.

These are precursors and prime examples of what future wars could look like in the next 50 years. Drinking water is the most under-appreciated resources in the civilized world.
