Short Distance Moving

Gonna be moving into my new house soon, 15 minutes away from where I'm at now (in Ascension Parish). This will be my first move like this. Have any of y'all used any good moving companies to help do short-distance moves (mostly for furniture and bigger items)? Is it too expensive to even be worth it? Or should I just stick with renting a U-Haul or something and borrowing a few good friends? Thanks in advance!

Two guys and a truck have always worked well for me. Student movers do a good job as well.
It just depends on how much you hate moving. I'll gladly pay after moving myself to several cities without movers. Just isn't worth it to me to save a few bucks

Student movers.
Moved 5 miles in BR. I had everything packed. They showed up and moved it all in less than 2 hours. Worth every penny.

If you actually own stuff and have a truck/suv and some time.
Use the truck/SUV to move small stuff.
Hire movers to move the big stuff because that sucks.

If you don't mind hurting your back, go for it.
You'll save a lot of money doing it your self, but damn, those movers can move a lot in a little amount of time.

If you have a four bedroom two story house worth of furniture, I'd probably go with a moving company. If it's a manageable amount of furniture, diy.

I did a four bedroom house a couple months ago but I had a whole week to take my time.
If I had to do it all in one or two days I would hire somebody.

I have used 3 men movers a few times and was happy each time.
Last time we had everything packed in boxes and the furniture ready to move. They did 3600 sq/ft of crap in 5 hours from one place to the other. Not one scratch on furniture or walls.

All my sons moving has moved me twice with no problems. Once was a long move and one a short.

Based on an OT reference I have used Abba to help me move locally twice. I highly recommend.

Never move yourself if you have the money to pay for other to do it. It's one of life's great treasures. Working hard enough to pay someone to do the shite you don't feel like doing although you can.
