I think most schools pretty much have this now. Usually the only unlocked entrance will be the front by the main office.

I know in Texas a lot of schools front office doors are locked and can only be unlocked by a button the secretaries press.

Usually doors to inside the school outside the front office are always locked, they are suppose to be at least

I said I don’t want to arm every teacher but you on a faculty of 100 you are likely to have 15 ex military, law enforcement etc. you are just preparing a small group to help defend until swat can arrive. I know why it’s a bad idea to do this but in that’s situation there are no good ideas. What’s the best way to minimize the loss of life? you have to disarm the shooter as fast as possible or at least distract him from firing at unarmed innocents.

Or you know you could make it more difficult for an insane minor to get his hands on an AR-15 but yea razor wire and former seal principals in every school is a lot easier so lets go with that.

he wasn't a minor

Second, even with stricter laws, weapons fall into the hands of criminals all the time. It happens every day

I have a feeling that local officials/police/broward county SO are going to be raked over the coals. Someone dropped the ball. I just know it.

He was hiding in plain sight.

Is it a requirement for everyone here with the Duke logo beside their name to be full of shite at all times?

Churches are already training members for onsite situations.

The govt waste money on plenty other things. I’m sure they can cough up 10k to train a select few teachers and admin.
Much cheaper than full time police presence or metal detectors.

Also... did you see this school in Florida. It reeks of poor (sarcasm)

I'd rather have police and metal detectors

That’s fine. Do that but don’t bitch about poor school districts and paying a messily 500 per person to attend force on force trainings

As a teacher, i would be scared shitless if anyone (except one or two people) on my faculty had a weapon and we were reliant on them.

does not say I would assume he was unarmed though because pretty sue he would have drawn his weapon if he had one.

Still better than crouching and hoping the gunman doesn’t hit up your room

No bag policy. It’s the 21st century. The only thing in my kids backpack is a water bottle, old hoodies and an empty binder.

No.
And that doesn’t resolve this or sandy hook shooting.

Easy entry to a fish in barrel scenario for these guys.

Can’t do English homework on a laptop. Or math or physics.

Computers don’t fix all and again, backpacks were not the issue here.

The mentally ill and ignoring thousands of warning signs is the issue
