What specific policy would have stopped today's shooting?
I don't know the answer to this, but the US doing nothing about it is definitely not the answer.

Yes you can. You can meet up with someone selling a gun on Craigslist and buy it for cash in a Walmart parking lot and it's 100% legal.
I know that, but in the context of the discussion, you're not going to walk around the Walmart parking lot and solicit handgun purchases. Talking point or not, that kind of thing is isolated to gun shows.

Would be like instead of saying buying drugs illegally off the streets you pick a particular location each time you talk about it.
Mattress Firm parking lot.

Good luck with that. Wasn't there some shithead McDonalds employee in Florida recently that was randomly killing folk? He must have had an IQ of 200, to elude profiling and capture, eh?
Read the history of this shooter though and you will see many warning signs that could have helped to prevent this tragedy

We need to bring back public executions, and kill them quickly in instances like this when we know they did the awful act.

He is trying to explain that you can buy a gun "illegally" regardless of it being in a gun show parking lot or a piggly wiggly parking lot..... You aren't proving your "gun shows are evil" narrative very well.....

You have to take a background check at gun shows. That's a Democrat talking point that just isn't accurate. You can buy a gun from an unlicensed individual without a background check but you can do that anywhere
Why is it that something so simple is so hard to understand?
I’ve bold texted this many times here. Let me try again:

I was just commenting on what a guy on the news said about gun shows. Nothing I even said was negative

Mental health has been blamed on school shootings since as far as I remember.
There have always been school shootings, but until recent history they usually involved a single shooter, and victim and were the result of a argument or disagreement with a teacher or student. Students going into a school with the intent to randomly kill as many people as possible started with Colombine.
Here is the history of school shooting
LINKs going back to the 1800s.

I've never once seen it at a gun show. The dealers that rent tables do background checks. I don't really see how it's the fault of a gun show that there might be some shady dealings in their parking lot. There's probably more cocaine in a strip club parking lot than Applebee's but I don't see how that's the titty bars' fault

They have mental health issues in Canada too but they have only had one mass school shooting in that Country in the last 30 years. How about looking up to our Northern neighbors for the solution.
They also have guns... legal and illegal AR-15, pistols, Shotguns, bow & Arrows and people with knowledge to do really bad things. They just don't do it. The only explanation is if a human being decides to do something, he can figure out a way to do it. It comes down to choice and penalty for choice.
You start skinning murderers alive starting at the bottoms of they're feet and tie them down naked in the desert until death..... that may detour someone who at worst would normally goto sleep for ever, go to jail until you die, go to jail and maybe get out, or beat the case somehow. You make the penalty for 100% guilty murderers and rapists an unbelievably horrible death.... you may change a few more minds than you would have before.

Actually to answer your question, We as humans arent learning from our mistakes. History will continue to repeat itself if nothing is changed. And Im not talking about taking away guns, this starts at home (put liability on parents), as that is going on, local governments need to do everything they can to ensure it doesn't happen to their community (be involved with children and the community). Federal govt needs to really dig into this too with using tax money (for grants) to ensure saftey at places like school.
Again, really well said. Maybe that's a start. Maybe the difference is less guidance at home because a lot of families have both parents working outside of the home. I just know there are steps we need to take to start working towards a solution and you're right. Maybe it can start locally, although, most places probably take the stance that "it can't happen here".

I don't care to. But let me guess?..Shooter could have had more mental health evaluations, or warning signs taken more seriously?
What would your response be had the shooter been evaluated by the VERY best mental health professionals and this still happened?

Maybe I’m over simplifying it but if kids wouldn’t be so shitty to other kids then they might not dive somebody to do something like this.
Bullying had existed since the inception of kids.
My personal opinion is that we coddle kids way too much and never allow them to experience failure or overcome obstacles on their own. That does serious psychological damage to developing brains.

There is no such thing as a gun show loophole.
