still the question remains... why attack Fire-Rescue?

It probably has little-to-nil to do with any distinction between police and fire-rescue . . . it's very likely just a low-impulse-control shithead impulsively attacking a uniformed person.

There are going to be a lot of radical leftists trying to take out cops over the next couple of weeks. It's going to be a long, hot summer.

Not from Dallas but I've spent plenty of time there- I'm a little confused on the location. Address looks like it's Fair Park but I think of East Dallas as that area north of 30 kind of east of Deep Ellum south of lower G Ville. Fair Park is ghetto AF but that East Dallas area I just described is not as bad from what I know

I'm in Dallas a lot too, and when I think East Dallas I think the area around DAC and La Prada. I guess I just don't know very much about areas south of 30.

I stayed at a Best Western in Dallas and ate at a Dennys across the street, so I practically have a key to the city

Southeast Dallas, Mesquite, & much of Garland have gone to shite the last few years.

I see Dallas as kind of the new Mecca for people from all walks of life, which isn't really the best thing as it tends to attract people who are prone to be problems.

Reports are that the mfer called 911 as a suicide and may have been trying to draw in responders to take out. He's on the loose.

That's fricked up.

Multiple sources say this came across initially as a suicide and when DFR arrived firefighters were shot at.

Another poster said that someone made a 911 call about a suicide as a trap and the fire-rescue was responding to that 911 call. So if that's true, seems like the shooter may have thought police would be responding and fire-rescue got shot when they were first on scene.
