So you're really just looking for a mini-van that doesn't have a sliding door.
frick yeah, that's what we did. Had a cross over type for about a year. Took it in for warranty service and got a minivan for a loaner.... probably two months later we traded that shite in for a loaded out minivan. Don't ever buy for looks over comfort/usability. When your kids get to the age they can get themselves in and out just fine, then you can get something you think looks better....until then, don't give a shite about what others think.

Real men drive whatever the frick they want without regard to what anyone thinks. You want a Rogue get a Rogue. You want a F250 with truck nuts and enough LED lights to be seen from the moon then do that.
This! And yes, I do drive a 3/4 ton dodge without truck nuts. My nuts already drag the ground. Happening when you hit the 60+ club.

I bought a Highlander a year ago. Love it. Still not used to FWD all the time but it has the third row seats and a V6. Wife had one before her van and I’m planning on giving it to my daughter in 5 years. Toyota reliability and it is very comfortable to drive. Dad bought a Murano this summer and loves it.

Shoot me straight though, no way a middle aged male can get away with buying a hybrid crossover type
I mean, it's a station wagon. If you're okay with the words "station wagon", you should be okay with a crossover.
It isn't a SUV. It's a V, but neither S nor U (as we use those terms in vehicular parlance).

If I do buy one should I go ahead and turn in my man card and get a rainbow sticker for the back window?
Pretty much.

I drive my wifes Santa Fe when we go someplace together. It's a been a really good vehicle with 95,000 miles on it so far. My wife commented the other day that this is the first time shes had a vehicle over 4 years and wasn't looking ready to get rid if it. All-Wheel drive with the 2.0L turbo is nice.

Are you tall? I'm pretty short lol. I was a valet for a few years so I got to drive everything, this was around 2013 so it has been a while since I drove one but I liked them back then.

Which is really just a glorified station wagon itself.

I’m glad I’m a girl and I can happily drive my rav4 without judgement or being worried that there will be judgement
Fits all my horse stuff but doesn’t feel like I’m driving a tank.

To me it's more that those cars were traditionally tailored to women (compact, typically rounded, etc.) than it is that they're crossovers.
I'd drive an Atlas or an XC 90 or something without thinking twice. Even the new compact SUVs are looking more stout for the most part.

GTI / Golf R
If you absolutely must own the atrocity that is an SUV then the new Acura RDX is the only way to go.

Just don't buy a Jeep or an S-10 cuz folks will think you are a lesbian. Or drink dark beer, that's a dead giveaway. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Typically the only opinions that matter to me are in my car not out. As long as they’re safe and comfortable I’m good.

My daughter drives a Jeep. Not gay, married. And yes, she loves to go wheeling.
Oh, kind of crazy taking a 35K jeep offroading, I would say.

Just tell everyone you're driving your wife's car while your F250 is in the shop getting lifted. EZ

My fiance just got a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas. Not gonna lie, I frickin' love it. We did a lot of shopping around and found it to be the best value. Its got a ton of room. Throw some mud tires and some tuck nuts on this baby and even the bawest of all baws will envy you.
