My guess is that he had some high-level, well-known character references in the legal profession who gave him sterling recommendations.

I believe in forgiveness and redemption. It really looks like this guy turned his life around. He has done some vry bad things in the past obviously, but he has worked to right his wrongs, and contribute to society in a major way.

Kudos to him.

I know of a dude who was disbarred in Louisiana for co-mingling & is now teaching ethics in Texas , go figure

Because he totally didn't rehabilitate (which is perhaps the most important justification for putting people in prison), thereafter starting a successful career and putting his criminal life behind him.
