Get the shot. Fuuuuuuuck shingles.
I got them on my head a few years ago and I wouldn’t wish that shite on anyone. For 2-3 days the only relief I would get is running warm water over my head in the shower.

My wife is 35, has had shingles twice, and is too young for the shot. She was miserable with it and she has a high pain tolerance. Get the shot if you can.

My youngest son is 17 and has had them twice the past 2 or 3 years. Last time was just a couple of weeks ago. Happens when he gets really stressed out (from his piece of shite mom). Sucks he can't get the vaccine. I asked the Dr when we were there just a couple of weeks ago.

Gave me Oxy, that at least dulled the pain somewhat
Be careful with that stuff. People end up giving handjobs under the interstate for heroin in no time at all.

Yay,
My wife and I received them. We know people that had shingles, and wish they got the vaccination.

the only thing worse than the Shingles vaccine is getting the Shingles. I got the shot.

Watched my dad go thru a bout of shingles a few years ago and it looked like it SUCKED!!!!!
I’m 51 and my doc also recommended I get the vaccine. First one was fine. Second one made me feel like shite for about 3 days. Sore muscles and upset stomach mainly.
Even with side effects from second dose, still seems like better option than dealing with what my dad went thru.

I got the shingle jab after hearing a story about someone getting shingles around their eyes. Sounded awful.
Common to have slight flu symptoms after the second shingle vax. I had flu symptoms for 1/2 day.

I've had shingles and it was a bitch. Painful, itchy, aggravation the entire 2-3 weeks it was visible and even had pain in the area months afterwards.
That being said, I just finished missing two days of work due to the 2nd injection (no issues with the 1st). I have cancer, so my immune system may not be as good as most, but the side effect I incurred was like covid. I would suggest getting the doses on a Friday if you don't want to miss work.
All that said, I would still go get the vaccines to have a lesser effect if I ever get shingles again.
BTW: I'm a 52 year old male.

I got it when I turned 50 mainly because I've seen relatives with shingles. Screw that! The first shot was fine just like any other, the 2nd one a couple months later sucked balls! It felt like she injected a damn football in my arm. I didn't feel bad but my arm and shoulder hurt for a few days. But all in all way better than getting the shingles!

Again, what say the OT medical pros on the RSV shot?
Wife and I (69, 70) have had both Shingrex and the RSV. Had no reaction to either one. YMMV, of course.

I had the shingles when I was 19…that was the strangest and most painful thing that I had to that point in my life. I understand shingles are a lot worse when you get older and can even cause blindness, etc.
I got my shingles vaccine last year. Also got the pneumonia vaccine last year.

I've had mild shingles twice and was going to do the vaccine.
The first shot so kicked my arse I passed on No. 2

"Just this week Pfizer and BioNTech added an mRNA-based shingles vaccine to their ongoing alliance, which also includes new flu vaccines, and the technology is also showing promise in non-infectious disease applications including heart failure."

the Dr did not give me any painkillers
I also have it now, going on 2 months. Gabapentin helps; I do 200 mg 3 times per day then go to 400mg at night to help with sleep. Also do topical 5 percent Lidocaine 4 times per day. Doctor told me there is a huge difference between OTC 4% and the prescription 5%, and he was right. Tell your doctor to fix you up man, no reason to suffer any more than necessary.

I have. No side effects. Still above ground.

It's probably not lethal like the Covid jab but I would definitely research it and find out the ingredients to see if it contains mercury, thimersol, baby fetus etc.
