It appears they have made a "big" change by hiring her

That's one of the better schools. There are far worse schools in EBR.

It’s the blight of the once great neighborhood of Shenandoah.

Just to clarify, she was very mature for her age and her dad gave me full permission as he was done with her

According to another thread that would be enough for you to accept consent.

Something is going on. I don't have children there but the below was posted today on FB in the Shenandoah Area Neighbors' Group by a parent:

The Shenandoah Elementary Family forum is not allowing discussion on this. They post every callout but oddly didn’t post the one from yesterday.
So I’ll share the following here for those interested:
Yes, I made a complaint that was shared on social media regarding the school.
It has since brought forth a number of complaints pertaining to several teachers and the culture within the school (far more than what has been made public). I met with Ms. Stevens last week and the Interim Superintendent yesterday afternoon.
Parents received a callout yesterday evening informing us that Ms. Jones (from Capitol Middle) would be taking over day to day operations in the absence of Ms. Stevens.
People have questions. Here is MY answer:
Principals are not removed from assignment because a parent complains on social media. A multi-faceted investigation takes place prior to district leadership making that decision.
My focus is the wellbeing of students on campus, specifically my student. I have been a huge supporter of the school, its administration and staff.
I don’t care what relationships I lose in the process of safeguarding children. Kids come first for me, always.

Edited to add that apparently there are a few teachers that numerous parents sent in complaints on for mistreating their children and no action was taken when it escalated to the principle. (Ms. Reed and Ms. Northern?? names were mentioned) Most parents that commented were speaking bad about the teachers, not the principal.

I was there during the same time frame as you - and also rode my dirt back to school!

Every once in awhile I find myself driving down Antioch by the school and see where those bike racks still are - and typically during a school day there are only a handful of bikes in there. I remember when we were going there that ebtore bike rack area was jam-packed with bikes!
