I think it is a sad commentary on our society that some poor child was the repeated victim of sexual assault and, let's be real, RAPE.

Happens plenty. Such a shame too. Civil suits in these situations drive me nuts. It would be sorta, kinda understandable if the kid was 24 and his life was in shambles because of the emotional trauma or something, but to just dole out money to a family of a 16 or 17 year old who may develop completely normal is asinine. I guess my issue is how can you possibly determine damages, if any, done at this point?
Furthermore, the idea that the school is culpable is hard to understand with the current facts of the case as I understand them. Where were they negligent?
