People are so fricking concerned about keeping their jobs that they cover up shite like this

Makes me sick to my stomach when people are complicit to sexual predators

Hang them all in a public square

If that was my daughter, I'd likely be in jail for murder by now.

We spoke to our kids about it. They weren’t aware of direct allegations but they did think he was a bit to friendly

Have these incidents become more prevalent or are we hearing about them more with social media / internet? We heard about teacher / teacher but never with students. I just can’t imagine a teacher battering a middle schooler.

Abbott was suspended both times, but Apostolic leaders did not notify the parents of the girl about the messages, nor is there any evidence to show they notified law enforcement.

Disgusting.

I can only imagine the shite I would do if I found out my kid's school was hiding sexual assaults of my kid from me. I'm not saying I would get violent, but I'm not not saying that either. That's egregiously bad, and I'd be expecting somebody to go to prison. And I'm not litigious, but I would be suing the absolute frick out of that school.

We’ve hear rumors that the investigation wasn’t very thorough when it comes to staff knowledge. Of the incidents. The church has been here for 40 years. The church is rumored to cost 15 million. Gotta imagine there are local political relationships.

We thought our kids would be safe……

I know it's always happened, but it's definitely more prevalent IMO mainly for the fact that access is ubiquitous these days. Everyone has phones in their pockets, and between calls, text, email, social media, school messaging systems, etc. the ability to contact students is everywhere, 24/7. Where in the past a teacher would have to have physical access to a student to groom kids, they can do it any time they want now.

I also think that social media in general is another root cause for stuff like this becoming more prevalent. The constant need for attention and to be liked is ingrained into kids these days, and lots of teachers now have grown up around social media, so they have that same need. And it's easier to find that attention from a kid you can control than other intelligent adults who won't give it to you.

Not according to the school:
quote:

In that meeting, the administrators defended Abbott and their handling of the situation.

Sullivan said, “But Kade is a kid. … So sometimes I feel like the emotions of it, you almost become like you’re one of them and you lose your professionalism,” he said. “And I feel like that’s what happened a lot with Brother Kade. He lost his professionalism.”

Penny Carpenter told the family that the messages from Abbott were “chitchat” with kids. Hammond, the Carpenter's son-in-law and school pastor, told the family in a follow-up meeting the school “found nothing of misconduct, moral misconduct.”

Both Penny Carpenter and Hammond argued the messages between Abbott and the girl were not troublesome, with Carpenter calling them “innocent” and Hammond saying leadership “tried our best to extend mercy to him” over the “small talk.”

Imagine being that 14 year old's parents and hearing that excuse from the school. That they found nothing wrong with it and it was just chitchat. Except that they suspended him twice for it.

And then your kid gets sexually assaulted by this a-hole.

Former Apostolic church attendees also told Knox News it was not uncommon for teenage girls to date men – even those who were well into their 20s – as part of a culture fostered by the church. In one case, the Carpenters encouraged a then-17-year-old girl to date an elder in the church in his mid-to-late 30s who had four kids. He would be a good provider and she could help with the kids, the woman said she was told by the church leaders.

As a Catholic I don't understand what it's going to take for them to take sexual assault seriously. You would think that with the billions of dollars awarded to the victims of the priests, it would dawn on them to turn these jackals over to law enforcement ASAP.

I have lost all faith in the institution. The Catholic Church has been brought down from within, it now lacks moral authority.

Usually this board calls 14 year olds lucky in these situations…

I, too, believe the Catholic Church should investigate the sexual assault of minors in Apostolic Christian schools

Not directly. We occasionally attended services for school events.

Non denominational are the same- there’s just no hierarchy and chain for the reports to be tracked as in the Catholic church.
