Arctic outbreak for 1/22?

Some significant differences in how the GEFS & Euro EPS are handling tropical convection (MJO and other stuff), so not totally convinced at this point that we will see an epic Arctic outbreak down in the Southern Plains/Deep South.

I know here in Benton, LA they’re saying around later afternoon the showers start and then the evening into Saturday morning the real fun begins.

Growing concern is straight line winds for most in the area.

not a good day to have the Shreveport weather radio out of order

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SHREVEPORT LA
816 PM CST Thu Jan 9 2020

...WXJ97 SHREVEPORT NOAA WEATHER RADIO WILL BE OFFLINE UNTIL
FURTHER NOTICE...

The NOAA Weather Radio Transmitter in Shreveport, Louisiana, will
be offline until further notice due to a phone line issue between
the provider and the transmitter. The proper technicians are
aware of the situation and are working on the problem so that
broadcasts can be restored as quickly as possible.

There are many alternate ways to receive weather information
during a NOAA Weather Radio outage, including television, AM/FM
radio, mobile apps, sirens, and Wireless Emergency Alerts.

The Wireless Emergency Alerts will continue to alert mobile
phones for all Tornado and Flash Flood Warnings during our severe
weather event expected on Friday night into early Saturday.

GFS still on drugs this morning with artic air from the 22nd-24th, not getting above freezing for 48 hours in all of Louisiana

This is the fourth or fifth run showing that now. Maybe there's something to it.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this won't be as bad as they're saying it will be in south Louisiana. The last few times this was predicted it was a flop for most. It's usually when they're not expecting it that we get straight line winds and tornadoes. I'm not a meteorologist, though, so I'm probably wrong.
