The amazing thing about radar advancements over the past few years is that it doesn't even take a large or strong tornado to show a debris signature. I've noticed smaller and smaller tornados producing the signature over the past few years. Radar is so good these days, and is continuing to improve.

Yeah the correlation coefficient (and dual polarization in general) has really made radar an even more incredible tool. It allows us to quickly see when a tornado is lofting debris and allows for better warnings.

3 active tornado warnings right now and we're just getting started. It's gonna be a long day across Louisiana.

EDIT: 4, if you count the one that's heading from Texas toward the Zwolle area.

The storm between Ft. Polk and Alexandria doesn’t look as strong (but it’s still dangerous and tornado warned). Might be recycling or is getting cut off from the best inflow.

I think prior to the Joplin tornado, or maybe the year before, it was a "best guess" type thing. Mets had a good idea that it was debris, but were not able to say with any certainty that it was debris. Now, less than a decade later, layman can pick out a debris ball on radar and be correct a large majority of the time. Short of visual proof by spotters, it may be the best tell that a tornado is on the ground.
Now, radar is getting better and better at showing size and intensity simply by the debris ball.

Watch the cell near Ville Platte, got some rotation showing up and seemingly in a good spot to keep going.

I'm surprised that one hasn't been warned.

EDIT: Wait. Just popped on RadarScope.

Smaller cell near Church Point eventually crossing 49 is another one to keep an eye on. Back end hinting at rotation. Watch for lightning. All of our warned cells have been popping off lightning as they mature.

Which, you know, says there's a good updraft associated with it.

That one just popped up as warned on RadarScope as well. That's 6 warned cells right now.

EDIT: 7. There's one up near Arkansas I missed.

I expect the one by Zwolle to expire. Not much happening in the way of rotation
