We left Tulsa this morning headed to Shreveport. The rain that started there yesterday was going strong. It was a hell of a drive, and it took about 2.5 hours longer than usual.
Went down the Indian Nation Turnpike. Many fields off it were like lakes, with water over the fences up to the branches of large trees.
It rained hard almost the whole way, and every ditch, creek, bayou and river in OK and East TX was full or overflowing. We saw white water in the woods and at pond spillways, and the water was often right to the edge of the road or over it.
Below Paris, Tx, we got detoured twice due to high water over US 271, and I saw several areas that were about to also go under.
Finally made it to I-30. We would ordinarily go under it and on through the E TX woods to I-20 and home, but night was coming, and I was scared we would get trapped between two flooded areas or hit water or a downed tree in the dark.
Decided to take I-30 to Texarkana and then I-49 home. It was way out of the way, but it was a good decision.
Right after we hit I-30 about 4:00, it started really pounding rain. Traffic was crawling for about an hour, with many folks pulling off completely. Our phones were blowing up with tornado and flash flood warnings. We finally punched through near Texarkana and hauled arse home. That was our only time not in a storm all day. Within an hour of getting home, the storm reached here.
Would not recommend it.

A big yellow and red blob on the radar just passed over Shreveport. Looks to be about to Haughton now.
It was just hard rain and some lightning at our place. Lost my DirecTV for a while, and the Vikings scored twice.
Even though we are in the green on radar now, it is still raining pretty hard.
