I don't think it was an actual tornado. If it, it was brief and likely not too strong. I also think, if she's in Louisville proper, you can tell her she dodged a bullet timing wise. Winds are picking up East of the city, and the Severe Thunderstorm Warning is for 80mph winds.

It just popped up on weather channel. Just a warning,no sightings.

Anything about the warning that just popped up in louisville? My mom is freaking out.
We’re just below her in Jeffersontown. Sounds like it’s a minor spin up with some potential straight line winds.
It ran right through here and winds got bad for about a couple minutes before they put out the warning
ETA: We got around a 75 mph gust here in J-Town.

There's not a whole lot of difference between a low-end spin up and straight line winds greater than 80mph. The rotation, not even tornadic, will damn sure find any roof leaks for you, though. Rain abruptly changing directions tends to do that.
That's not saying not to take shelter. If that spin-up sits down right on top of your house, it will take some damage.

Well, crap. Pretty sure she’s east.
She’s got the kid in the closet and they are staying there

That’s what our local guy on WLKY was saying. They didn’t see any strong rotation but the gusts were pretty high and triggered the warning.
We’ve seen some of those gusts the last couple big systems and have thankfully done ok (knock on wood).

Always the best bet when a kid is involved.

They just dropped the newest Tor Warning on it.
The worst winds are in Shelbyville now and the rotation is south of South Village.

Aspy, it’s pretty much moved out of here at this point. Just some rain now. It moved really quick.

I told her to just stay where she is

By dropped I mean they let it expire or canceled it early. I don't know if that came across wrong.

Ahhhh, no. I’m just an idiot.

Kind of like the one that mp kcr thinks a refresher course in finishing school would help?

The system is so far north now that all of the dynamics are pulling away. Ridging over the Gulf and Florida helps to keep pushing the system north.
We should be glad this is the case otherwise this would have been really bad. You can see the cells trying to form they just can’t quite get there

NWS is now reporting we had an EF-1 in the Louisville area earlier.

That's why with QLCS storms you never wait for the confirmed tag to come out. More times than not you won't get "a radar confirmed tornado...." with those type storms. They're either so brief, or so small, or the radar is just too cluttered that you won't see a CC drop to verify it.
That's also why NWS WFOs have a smaller threshold for issuing those type warnings. When they see the couplet close to forming they will issue the warning because radar verification isn't a given.

There's an interesting feature on radar right now. This line/system has formed an outflow boundary that stretches from south of Jackson, MS to at least Knoxville, TN, where it has fired a few sub-severe storms ahead of the line. That boundary is pushing some decent wind with it, ~40-45mph.

Bunch of fired off storms from Houston to Monroe
