We should all go have a drunken argument about this.

He doesn't need help. You're a fool if you really believe what you've posted.

I really wish this was more of an arguement about a living BJJ guy facing Tyson than Bruce Lee. I just don't have enough concrete evidence to really say he could beat Iron Mike and feel 100% confident about that. All I know is what the JKD guys I train with can do and they are pretty good and Bruce Lee is like their god.
If Bruce can slip one of Tyson's punches and get his back or put a shin on his lead leg where he can't utilize all his power, then maybe we got a fight. I know Tyson has the punching power to knock Bruce Lee into another stratosphere but I also know how fst Bruce Lee was and what he could with that speed.

I don't ignore the 70 pound weight advantatge, it is just not the trump card many want to make it out to be in a no holds barred outfit - otherwise, there would be no fight - there would just be a weigh-in and the heaviest man wins. In no holds barred and real world fights - generally, the guy most ready to fight wins.
Finally people who understand that there is a strategy for BL to win. He's not going to go in there and slug it out with Tyson as many seem to think is how this will go down. OMG someone slid to the dead side and threw a punch! Blasphemy!

I think it's funny that some people in here think that Lee would have a mentality advantage over Tyson.
This guy gets it:
quote:
I'll agree that Tyson was fairly well prepared for a fight while Cus was still alive - the changes to his training and corner people degraded significantly after that and Don King's influence.
Don't forget to add Givens to that.

Bruce Lee had a window where he could have commanded an enormous purse for participating in a fight of any kind.... Boxing match, karate match, etc. But he didn't. Ever. Why not? Because, if he loses, his reputation suffers irreperable damage. If he was as bad a man as his image put out there, he had no reason to fear being beat did he?
So let me put this in another context: LSU only needs to win one more game against anybody to go to the NC. Do you play Alabama to prove a point or do you play Southern and take the better chance of going to the NC?

How the hell did this get over 50 pages?

Dumbass even 3 years later

And still today, my response is:

Lee would have 1 shot to get Tyson in the jugular before Tyson grabbed his arse and beat the shite out of him. Tyson isnt just going to box the dude.

Again, not a boxing expert or even knowledgeable enough to say this with any kind of authority
Tyson's first few years as a pro he seemed much more technical and was extremely hard to hit because he moved his head and body so quickly. He would inside on taller fighters unlike in later years against guys like Lewis. He didn't even look like he was trying. At some point it looks like he just stopped training and was walking out there and throwing punches and even still he kept his undefeated streak for a few years doing that.
In his early years he was just an inch from his opponent and they couldn't hit him

I could be wrong or dismissing context but I saw Tyson close ground on taller fighters early in his pro career. He'd have a few inches on lee and no amount of dancing would keep Tyson from coming

I am assuming both in their prime but yeah Tyson easily. You can have all the speed in the world but raw power and size will win everytime. Tyson wasn't slow either.

Tyson all day.

Pretty sure Bruce lee was part myth.
Granted in his movie his hand speed was faster then chuck Norris (this was near the time he was a world karate champion). This could have been done for the movie or he was faster, I don't know
What were lee's championships and accolades?
