Service Providers for home issues

Woke up this morning to a puddle of water in my hallway. After some investigating and removing a portion of the wall in my bathroom behind the sink vanity, a small hole in a water pipe is the source. Water was spraying out of a hole (where two pieces are joined together) and hitting a wall, running down the wall and out under the baseboard (the leak is about 8-9 inches above the foundation).
Call the plumber at 730 am. Says he will call me back within the hour with a time when he can come fix. I shut the water off to the house so it is no longer leaking, but still need to fix.
11 am, no return call yet.
I feel like anytime I call someone to provide a service to my home, be it plumbing, HVAC, appliances, electrical, etc, it's like this. I understand they are busy people, but it is too much to ask to get a return call within 2.5 hours of when they say they will call you back?
I always like to try to give business to the little guy, the small local provider, but every time, this is the result.

Currently 50 degrees and it got to the mid 40s last night. No pipes are busting

Screw the little guy. I always go with the most professional service I can find first. It's almost always more expensive but you know what? It gets done and it gets done fast.
With a leak in the home, you don't have the luxury of time to sit around waiting on someone who obviously doesn't give two fricks about you.

that's a pretty easy fix if you've got minimal mechanical skills

Yup, but I'd still replace the line. Next week another pinhole could pop up if that line is corroded

sounds like a splice put in by an HVAC guy when unblocking a condensation line, probably just a half assed job
