My point is most rap songs are about bitches and getting high/drunk. What are most country songs about?

It sucks because it isn't music. "Music" to us over 50 has good lyrics as well as good sound. Music by artists like Huey Lewis, Chicago, The Eagles, and as far back as Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, ect. all have those qualities that this mindless crap called Rap or Hip Hop don't. Get back to me in 20 years when oldies stations are playing rap... Oh wait, that'll never happen.

Ok, 63 and I don't believe that. It does take talent and when a dude pulls up next to me with rap playing at a red light, I feel the vibrations and often hear the stuff over my air conditioner. It qualifies as music IMHO.
I live on a lake and at dark when the ski boats and party pontoon boats go out for night adventures, I hear it all across the lake. Boaters love that stuff.

Bob Dylan wrote a rap song in 1965, "Subterranean Homesick Blues". I like it, but what if every song he wrote afterward was written in that limited style? think of all the great melodies and lyrics we would have missed.
I didn't HATE modern rap when it first started. I found it repetitive, monotonous, and uninventive, but it was relatively innocuous. It was only when the thugs took over with noise beats and lyrics glorifying crime that actual hate entered the picture.

Older people didn’t hate rock when it first came out because they thought it sounded bad. They thought it was very immoral to use music for that purpose. I’m sure they thought it was good but secular was viewed as a negative.

Young people don't even know why they like it other than its what's propagandized to them. A frighteningly large percentage of people will listen, watch and believe whatever is mass marketed to them.
Rap is just the current thing that they've been promoting because they have an agenda.

Because the vast majority of it is simplistic and inferior to other genres from a musical standpoint. You have to dumb yourself down pretty far to subsist solely on a rap diet. It’s musical primitivism. Many of us who love music just require more.
