The local news stations provided much better coverage. The national news anchors were mostly dumb, naive, and useless. The local guys were sharp, more emotional, and knew exactly what was going on.

Absolutely... I remember staying up to atleast 3 am watching it live. I was pretty scared of the whole terrorist thing.

I was 14 years old at the time. It was during P.E. playing dodgeball that I heard that something was going on in New York and Washington. I don't remember the exact words of the conversation, as I was overhearing my friend talking to another friend about it, but I remember him summing up what had happened and thinking him a boldface liar.

I didn't say anything to him. I merely shrugged it off as stupid rantings. But when we went into the locker room to change back into our school clothes at the end of the period, our coach confirmed what my friend had been saying.

In an instant my world changed forever.

English teachers were mumbling about it the hall, about 40 minutes later they finally confirmed over the loud speaker that New York was attacked.

LINK

This is a twitter account I'm assuming will be used to tweet the attacks as they happen, if twitter were around then. Also MSNBC, as every year, will be doing an as it happened replay starting at 7:53 central time

You can listen to all the audio recordings of the FAA, airlines, and military on YouTube here. It is insane just how confusing the situation was for all those involved. By the time the air people were figuring out what was going on, it was all over.
