11% when you factor in PayPal.

Plus listing fees.
Shipping, etc.

Also any numbnuts can buy something thinking they need it. Install it and decide they misdiagnosed the issue and you have to refund them.
This is why I rarely sell new stuff. The used stuff, I tell them to keep it and send them the money.

I had a guy buy a new in box $300 touchscreen for a relatively rare dryer.
It came back top me damaged from a botched install and I had to refund him.

Amazon is much worse though. I gave up quickly on selling there.

I’m the king of the eBay flip. I sell anything and everything I find at garage sales. They do have the highest fees (10%), but they still have the best audience of buyers.
I can go out every Saturday morning and make minimum of $100. I look for toys, sports, silver & gold, and strange items.
I go in cycles for things I look for. Right now it’s Mid Century Modern items. I bought a Herman Miller chair for $10 a few weeks ago, sold it for $100+. A couple weeks ago, I found four more for $10 a piece, sold them for $300. They were newer than the one I had a few weeks ago.
Last week I paid $1 for this football parka, sold it for $200.

Here are the chairs

truth

i sold a brand new MAF sensor, the guy returned his old broken one and ebay took back the money from my account and refunded him dispite the pictures i showed them of what the grease cover old part he returned. my appeal was denied, so sorry you fricked out of your $55 new part plus the shipping costs to send it and the return shipping costs

another time i sold a brand new MAF sensor, the guy wanted to return it because it didnt fit. i asked him if he confirmed the part number. his reply was, no but it looked the same and he sanded it down to make it fit before he realized the plug was different,
SO HE WANTED A RETURN SHIPPING LABEL AND FULL REFUND FOR A PART HE ADMITTED RUINING

the worst part is i still had to argue with ebay for 2 weeks even though i had the guys messages admitting he ruined the part trying to force it to fit after ordering the wrong part. i eventually won my case but it was ridiculous i had to even argue against his refund

they are the best to protect buyers but they suck if you are selling and the seller wants to rip you off

I don’t care what stuff looks like, I just worry about the value. I may have left a little meat on the bone. I think I could have gotten more.

My company receives a bunch of samples of different tools and supplies throughout the year and do nothing with them. They just sit around and eventually we just give them away or toss them in the trash. So I decided to start selling these items a couple of years ago. I've probably made about $20,000 cash so far

Been a member since 2004 and have sold quite a lot of stuff. I don't sell to make a living off it, but rather to recycle. The way it works for me is I keep the funds on the Paypal account when it sells; then I buy new stuff with the balance. Pretty much is "sell unused stuff to buy new". Works for me.

The wife buys designer purses and handbags from yard sales and thrift stores and sells them on Ebay for profit. Bought a Calvin Klein purse for 5 bucks and sold it for 400 on Ebay.

Used shoes are huge. I got a pair of Kobe's a few months back for $10 and flipped them for $180. If only I waited until after he passed away.

Seems like shipping would eat my lunch. What do you sellers do about those costs.
