Jerry is my all-time favorite joke teller. I like him a little more after seeing this.

quote:

Cowherd said that Chris Rock and other comedians have suggested that stand-up on college campuses is increasingly difficult because of the level of political correctness, and Seinfeld — who has never been a particularly controversial comedian — said that he doesn’t play colleges.

quote:

“Let me give you an example,” he says. “My wife says to [my 14-year-old daughter], ‘Well, you know, in the next couple of years, I think you’re going to want to be hanging around the city more on the weekends, so you can see boys.’

And you know what my daughter says? She says ‘that’s sexist.’

“They just want to use these words,” Seinfeld continued. “‘That’s racist. That’s sexist. That’s prejudice.’ They don’t know what the [bleep] they’re talking about.”

Agree. Especially with the younger crowd, like his daughter in the story he mentions, they hear these "buzzwords" on TV and social media and think that throwing these words around makes them seem more intelligent or worldly or advocating for some cause.

In regards to Chris Rock....Cowherd is wrong; kinda.

Chris Rock said he stopped playing colleges because they were too conservative, not too PC. I do agree with Cowherd's and Seinfeld's stance though....I just think Rock is WAYYYY off base somehow blaming the "I'm offended" base on conservatives.

It's not a lib or conservative issue, it is a society issue across all political, racial, religious and geners groups in this country.

He should give up the comedy.

I hear wonderful things about Bloomingdales' executive training program.

Did you read the article you linked?

quote:

That's when Rock said college campuses in America were too conservative, though, not necessarily in a political way:

quote:

Not in their political views -- not like they’re voting Republican -- but in their social views and their willingness not to offend anybody. Kids raised on a culture of “We’re not going to keep score in the game because we don’t want anybody to lose.” Or just ignoring race to a fault. You can’t say “the black kid over there.” No, it’s “the guy with the red shoes.” You can’t even be offensive on your way to being inoffensive.

ETA: For your sake, my question was rhetorical.

I don't think he's talking about conservative in the political sense but more in the aspect of sensibilities. There's no way college campuses are too politically conservative.

I think you misinterpreted his use of the term "conservative"

I know he later clarified and said he was talking about their social views, not political views but being socially conservative doesn't mean you are easily offended. His correlation isn't very accurate IMO

And on a side note, the 20+ minute discussion between Cowherd and Seinfeld last week was the best segment in the history of his radio show. He didn't seem like he was trying to be the biggest brain in the room, although it seemed Jerry has a man crush on Colin.

Agreed.

WWII generation was awesome, Baby Boomers were/are terrible, Gen X is probably the last generation that remembers what it was like pre technology but can at least install upgrades on their iPhones and the youth today just constantly look for something to blame on someone else.

Y'know you've given this comedy thing your best shot. Yeah, you had some good observations, but it's over. Now, this Bloomingdale thing, that could be the next wave.
