re: "See you at the rapture." as a parting statement

I heard a younger lady say that to an elderly woman and it stuck with me. I'm a little religion rusty, but was she implying that the world would end after the elderly lady passed but before she did? She didn't seem to have any power or influence that could cause the second coming, but that seems like a prophecy of some sort.
The Rapture is an "end times" event ("eschatological" event) where Jesus Christ returns for His Church and believers who are "alive and remain shall be caught up together…in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
This is the time of the resurrection, where each Christian receives his or her resurrected body. First to receive their new bodies are those who have died as Christians, and then, those who are "alive and remain."
Take notice, I am telling you a secret. We shall not all die but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet call. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall all be changed"
(1 Corinthians 15:51-52).

Like I said it depends on how you define it. The ressurection is technically mentioned in the passage you quoted. The idea of a "rapture" was imposed upon it by pre-millennials.
If by rapture, you mean the second coming/resurrection/judgement all in one then you are correct.
If by rapture you mean this "take Christians away before the 7 year tribulation", then you believe something fairly recently put together and not explicitly mentioned in the bible.

Posted on 5/8/15 at 8:14 am to GrammarKnotsi
Is it Bill's Prime?
Dons...Steamers...wifi? Not a chance. It was 3:00, and I doubt AJs has it either.
Been hanging out up stairs at Dons. Good times. Draft Yuengling!

Yes, where people got the idea about this "rapture" thing is a mystery. Has to be a modern day fairy tail dreamed up, right? There is nothing in the Bible that could be considered to describe a "rapture" of any sort. Well, nothing except this....
quote:
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel's call and with the sound of God's trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever. (NRSV, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17)

That's the resuurection.
Read the NEXT few verses.
quote:
Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
quote:
4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that THIS DAY should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
And there's the judgement on the same day. How could Christians be surprised if they are not there due to the rapture?
CONTEXT.

Not creepy
The younger woman knew she probably wouldn't see the older lady again on earth but KNEW they'd meet at the rapture.

This is the definition of the word...
resurrection
so this part of the scripture covers the resurrection....
quote:
or the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel's call and with the sound of God's trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
but the scripture does not end there. It goes on to say....
quote:
Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever.
By the definition of the word "resurrection", what is described there does not fit the meaning of the word since it's describing those who are alive at that time. The word that fits this portion of the scripture is "rapture".
Rapture
So, Resurrection is the raising of the dead while rapture is the ascending to heaven of the living.

So you're saying this?
Because the second coming encapsulates all that. The term "rapture" has a surprising origin related to the bible

It's somewhere in the back, the book of Cameron I believe.

Well they all go together. Like I said above, the Resurrection describes what happens to the dead at that time while the rapture what happens to the living at that time. The dead are resurrected, the living are raptured, and all come together for the final judgement.

Then we pretty much agree (see the link in my ETA above by the way).
I am specifically referring to the rapture as it is interpreted by pre-millenials. That concept is not in scripture.

If you're gonna to be in the rapture, you're hip to the trip, you're with it to the limit, you're cool as a jewel. Dig, Daddy-O:
