Came here to post this. Seeing is still pretty rudimentary but it's entirely possible to hear and manipulate objects purely by thought.
I'm at work now and don't want to spend time finding the link but experiments have been done that allowed a person to control a robot arm in an entirely different building just by thinking about it. They watched it on a camera and just ... moved it.
The people doing the test reported that after enough practice it felt no different from using a real arm.
