nope but you believing in evolution shows how easy it is to brainwash people with obvious nonsense.
Uh, the alternative is believing that an invisible sky man did it.

Brainwashed, eh?

Very much so. If evolution had it's way, this disease would wipe out the weak and the strong who get it would push on and eventually humans would develop a level of immunity to it.

At the same time though, humans have evolved to be able to fight these things.

No. As a product of evolution, anything we do is part of the process.

the other half of that equation is giving their offspring the best shot at life they can...and that certainly ain't the case right now.
Assuming you mean the financial sacrifices we are making, then this is a severe misunderstanding of the process of natural selection. You seem to think that evolution is forward-thinking, and that simply is not the case. Natural selection doesn't act on the next generation, only the current breeding-age (and younger) one.

Those most likely to survive are most likely to breed. That's it. Evolution has no goals, no ideal forms. If you think that what we are doing is "fighting" evolution, then so is planning for our kids' future. If some dipshit kid is given an "artificial" advantage in life due to a large inheritance, isn't that fricking with natural selection, too?

But, again, I wouldn't take the term "natural selection" too literally. Because, by virtue of the fact that we are part of the natural world, anything we do can be considered natural. And whether we end up as some weak form that can't survive without technology, or practically superhuman, or if we kill ourselves off, in either case evolution will have occurred, and naturally so.

I'm thinking for starters we should tell the Chinese to stop eating bats for soup.

I say by far the worst problem is letting people with IQs under say 115 (one SD above average) as well as people with congenital conditions and a propensity to be fat* reproduce.

I think society needs people of varying IQs in order to function. Not every task requires an above average mind.

Though I do wish people would consider congenital defects before procreation. The propensity toward obesity is harder to control, because that can be caused by poor maternal health, and not always genetic predisposition.
