Seems most of this is being pushed because Parish's know if the smallest thing would happen to a child the parent would sue. Nothing is supposed to get bad until the afternoon but rather than take a chance it is a nice day they will go ahead and make use of these hurricane days they have left. Smart move by the schools really.

it gets back when schools get out hence a lot of parents and traffic during really bad weather is why they decided to close.

I don't disagree with the intent behind why they did it. It's really difficult for parents to scramble for childcare at the last second. I'm just glad I don't have corporate people/management in town with me bc I would be up a creek.

A bus load of kids getting hammered by a tornado on the way home from school would be worldwide news. These systems have to look at stuff like that (silly to most I know). In St. Tammany we found out at 10 pm. I think we were a go until they moved the time frame up to noon.
