I don’t have a ton of experience with other religions but from my limited experience I would rank Catholic and Episcopalian as 1 and 2.

I’m definitely not an expert but isn’t one of the “things” about Baptists is that each church kinda has its own rules?

Do I understand correctly that Catholics believe baptism is a crucial step to salvation?

how i understand it.

The Baptist convention was split over slavery, thus the birth of the Southern Baptist.

White slave owners raised slaves to be baptist but weren't welcome in the same church's

If I’m understanding your question correctly, yes. And the Catholic Church actually recognizes baptisms that occur in other Christian churches. For example a cousin of mine was baptized in a Methodist church and it “counted”.

I’m far from a religious expert though

The Anglican church predates the reformation and the Augutine coming to England. The church existed in Britain prior to romes's incursion. After Henry they just reasserted their authority, therefore it is one of the original branches

1. Irish/Celtic as its own branch of Christianity? WTF? They are a part of your Latin Catholic "Roman" block.

2. "SCOLARS"?

They want papers of the baptism when a protestant marries a catholic church.

1. Tongue speakin’ Pentecostalism

2. The others

Edit - wait…was the criteria not based on most entertaining?

Thanks. That wasn't a "gotcha" at all, I truly was asking.

As some who grew up as and currently identifies as Baptist, that's one of the major big time points of differentiation between us and Catholics. In the Baptist church it's always been explained that baptism is like a wedding ring. If you're married it's nice to have a ring to show to the world that you are but it isn't a requirement of marriage. Likewise you can wear a wedding ring but that doesn't make you married. Baptism is an outward profession of your faith but it doesn't actually MEAN anything in relation to salvation. The only, ONLY, thing that gets you into heaven is accepting Jesus as the savior and asking his repentance of sin. Not baptism, not being nice, not donating to charity, etc.

The church of Christ was established in 33 AD, not during the Second Great Awakening.

I'd rate them ridiculous.

but they are effective in controlling people's lives and way of thinking - so good job there. and HEY, they have a great way of fleecing people of their money and paying no taxes.

Catholics are a lock for the playoffs they hold the White House and Supreme Court, plus there are 71 million of them.

Church of Latter Day Saints are near shoe. Mormons are top 5 in membership, they have a done of money, and control their on state. And Utah seems to be run pretty well, they hosted the Olympics.

The Baptist remind me of the Big 10, one is a lock for the playoffs but do they get two? The Southern Baptist or the National Baptist which one goes dancing?

Of course the Lutherans are banging on the door of the playoffs. Remember Lutherans are the heaviest drinkers of all Protestants denominations

It sounds like baptism in Baptist religion is essentially what Catholics refer to as confirmation.

Catholics believe that baptism washes away original sin.

Yes, you can attend Catholic services if you’re a baptized Christian, but I do not believe you can take communion. Whereas, if you’re a baptized Christian of any denomination, you can take communion in the Anglican/Episcopal church.

You dropped the hammer all the way from the top rung of a 2ft ladder with that one.

In the baptist church I grew up in they had the communion every month or so but there weren't really any "rules" to it. The church I go to now is apparently a lot more strict because technically you aren't SUPPOSED to take the communion if you aren't a member of the church. Not sure if that's something specific to this church or if they are basing that on some specific passage of scripture but I wasn't aware there were rules that particular on the subject until recently

I like to think of Roman Catholicism as the default position in the West (along with Carl Trueman).

After that, if you're in the West and you're not searching for ecuminism, please adjust accordingly.

So,
Roman Catholic
Anglican/Episcopalian
Lutheran
Reformed/Presbyterian

Eastern Orthodoxy has as at least as good a claim as Roman Catholicism.

I'm Presbyterian.
