Bernie Madoff's crime was failing to admit that he wasn't making his clients as much money as he'd said.

His crime was carrying out one of the largest Ponzi schemes in history. He stole money from investors.

In the opposite direction, it’s disgusting but not surprising that the Russia collusion impeachment fabrication got so little media coverage and was never even labeled for exactly what it was — a coup attempt

OK, maybe I was off-base with the Madoff thing. I just read the Wikipedia article specifically about the recovery of assets for victims, and it said that the DoJ had recovered something like $16 billion against "admitted claims" of around $20 billion. The source is a paid site, so I don't know exactly what "admitted" means. The article also said that Madoff made basically no actual investments on behalf of clients for over 10 years, and that does go against what I said.

I didn’t care that Slick Willy lied about getting a bj from a chubby intern

Definitely didn’t care about whatever it was that got Reggie Bush’s Heisman revoked

Never cared about the various NCAA violations over the years at various schools. They all seemed so petty and pointless.

Just about everything involving sports rings a little hollow to me. Even the Lance Armstrong thing was kind of an eye-roller. If you were gullible enough to buy a bracelet, that sucks for you, but ultimately we're talking about bicycle racing and silicon rubber here.

That's where the "admitted claims" thing comes into play. Sucks that the specifics are behind a paywall.

Going back to what I originally posted, though, most of what people would have been seeing in their statements would have been accumulated returns (10+ percent per year, for a long time). Unless the numbers behind that paywall have an extra zero compared to "admitted claims," we are in fact talking about lying about returns, not principal.

Bountygate. And I say this as a Vikings fan.

There were still refs at the games. Illegal hits were still illegal hits.

Didn’t seem like a big deal to me then. Still doesn’t.
