Saw a dog in a car

In Dallas, hot and sunny and some frick leaves his dog in his car. I was in an area with a ton of shops so there is no way of knowing where the owner was to go find him. I went up to the car but the window was not rolled down. I thought about breaking his window but I was afraid the dog would try and get out and hurt himself.
In the end I wrote down his license plate and will report the guy, but it's ducked up there isn't someone to all in this situation to come immediately.
I felt helpless and terrible for the dog but didn't know what to do. I couldn't wait for the guy to come out and call him out on it bc I was late for work, plus that isn't going to help the dog but wtf.
Poor dog

Did you call animal control? The cops?

Did you leave the owner a note calling them a POS for leaving their dog in the car?

If I can leave my kid in a car, then a dog will be fine.

I wrote down his car info and will send it into the authorities, I didn't call them on the spot bc I couldn't stay there and what are they gonna do anyway? I don't think a dog in a car is high on their priority list, I'm sure the guy would be gone before they got there

I saw a little dog in a car at the Costco on the Tollway today. The dog had climbed up on the dash right in front of the steering wheel. Maybe he was cold and wanted some sun.

I didn't want to smash the window bc it was an SUV and I didn't want the dog to jump out and hurt himself

You could have called animal control to save it or call a cop to come put it out of its misery. I guess you did the next best thing though, post about it on tigerdroppings.

Good for you for sending his lic plate to the authorities. They'll get their best detectives on the case.

I'm not kidding. I hope the owner of the dog dies a horrible death!
