This is why I wouldn’t do it. My credit score is in the excellent range now, so the last thing I need is to get dinged just saving a few bucks on an appliance.

Earlier this year I bought about $1500 of flooring from Home Depot. Opened up a card and got $150 off. 6 months interest free financing. Paid it off in 6 equal payments.
My credit score went down 2 points when I opened the card. It's now 5 points higher than it was right before I opened the card.

Meanwhile the banks are borrowing money form each other at 0.08 percent.
Citibank (the HD card provider) makes a killing even if just a few people carry a balance.

Home Depot will let you do interest free financing depending on the price. I bought a washer and leaf blower a few months ago and I still have plenty of runway for interest free payments
