Then yeah they should be able to accommodate certain VLCCs. They usually draw like 60 to 70 feet. But I would imagine the loop deals with specially designed tankers with single point mooring systems and bow connections. Idk if they can accommodate just any tanker. These tankers will probably have to offload at the lightering area.

.
The tankers I observed offloading at LOOP would moor with lines off the bow.

The offloading hoses were connected on the lee side around amidships where the manifolds are located. You have to load and offload evenly or you break the ship.

The Captains and loadmaster didn’t want your boat around the hoses.

Good news.

Some people hate shale oil recovery, but that stuff has forced the whole world to treat oil like a commodity in a global capitalist manner instead of the Arab nation price fixing that the US endured for 40 years.

It's funny how prices at the pump increase the second the price of oil goes up, but take forever to go down when the price drops.

I think it depends on when they buy the gas. It's why Costco's prices change differently than other gas stations.

This would be good for strictly downstream companies right?

Just seize their ships and keep the oil for reserves. Stop doing business with anti American countries like China and Saudi Arabia

The last thing we want is to piss off SA and have their oil start being sold in currencies other than the USD. OPEC would then follow suit. Its the only reason our govt isnt bankrupt and why our economy has not crashed despite having 20+ trillion in debt.
