Couldn't we just buy all this stuff cheap and put it in the reserves until oil prices go back up?

Not really how the oil reserves work.

Last I read the SPR's weren't at capacity. It wouldn't be a bad move to offload 10-15 of these into the caverns.

It's funny how prices at the pump increase the second the price of oil goes up, but take forever to go down when the price drops.

It dropped 20 cents near me from Friday to Monday.

They gave a big "frick you" to refiners when they allowed oil to be sold overseas.

Would be a shame if our ports were overburdened due to dredging and maintenance and they had to wait out in the gulf for a while.

Just pull your bass boat up to the side of the supertanker and they will hand a nozzle down.

A VLCC isn't coming into any port. They will be lightered offshore onto smaller shuttle tankers.

They never come in to ports.

At least not fully loaded.

Well if it costs me $40/bbl to produce oil and the US Govt can counter this ploy by taking it off the market, I'd be good with it.

They can't offload those at LOOP?

It's up 15 cents and I thought price per barrel was on the low 30s?

They might be able to I dont think the water is particularly deep at the LOOP though. I'll have to check when I get back to work. VLCCs draw an unbelievable amount of water.

Thought we were limited to the amount of US oil we could refine due to the grade of US oil?

LOOP doesn’t require dredging.They offload VLCC’s and. ULCC’s there.

We used to fish around the tankers offloading. I think the water depth is 100’-125’ deep around those parts.

Of sorts. Doesn't mean we should sell off our resources to other countries.
