They are already droning brown people in far off lands, why not do it here. This power would never be abused.

That will violate the Asimov's First Law of Robotics:

quote:

First law is that the robot shall not harm human or, by inaction allow a human to come to harm

My first thought reading was the Dallas cop shooter event, and there it was a couple paragraphs later. I'm sure I don't favor cops being able to drive robots with bombs towards you and detonate them. That's how you get more killdozers.

If I remember correctly, robots have been used by law enforcement to kill humans already. Maybe not in San Francisco but somewhere here in the US.

I realize that the police kill suspects regularly in the line of duty, but maybe they should aim a little higher with the kill bots. This is a robot we're talking about, if they aren't an expert marksmen that can take a man down without lethal force, we probably shouldn't arm them. Instead of giving them clearance for kill shots, have them shoot the cell phone that looks like a gun out of their hands or something.

I mean a robot already killed that shooter in Dallas. There was a shootout and then they strapped a bomb to the robot and blew him up. Part of me understands why they did it and you can always justify something in an extreme case ,but it is people who I don't trust with that kind of capability. They will always lower the threshold for such use of force.

Why would San Francisco need this?
These people don't even want the cops called for shoplifting. They allow people to shoot-up drugs and take a dump in the streets. California doesn't even have the penalty - they don't even believe serial killers should be executed.

What crime would require the authorization of robot killers? A right-wing conservative preaching on the corner soapbox?

No way this could go South on us. There’s just no way.
