San Diego police officers shot a man they say slipped out of handcuffs and grabbed a gun from the back of a police SUV.

The incident happened Sunday at San Diego Police Department headquarters.

Police said officers shot the man after he ignored demands to drop the weapon and fired one round at them, according to reports.

The 25-year-old Hispanic man was taken to a hospital for treatment and was expected to survive, Fox 5 San Diego reported. He was shot in the chest.

Remember when a police officer would shoot an armed man if he didn't comply and drop his weapon? Now these guys are so scared of the consequences that they are allowing criminals to actually shoot at them before they fire.

quote:

Lt. Andra Brown said that after being shot, the man “reached out the car window, opened the door, and exited the patrol vehicle. He was still armed with the handgun and would not comply with officers’ directions,” according to the paper.

He was finally subdued after he was bitten by a police dog who was brought in to assist, the paper reported. The man was then handcuffed and given medical treatment.

Even after being shot in the chest the dude wouldn't comply.

And he’ll still be reported as the innocent victim.

This sounds a little strange to me. No cage and a gun is out where a person can get to it? How does this work?

From the article...

quote:

At headquarters, the man was left in the back seat of a police SUV as the arresting officer went inside to fill out booking paperwork, according to the paper.

Capt. Rich Freedman said it was at that point the man slipped out of his handcuffs and broke a plexiglass divider in the vehicle between the back seat and trunk area, the paper reported. There he found the officer’s backup handgun in a backpack.

That's crazy. Looked up the San Diego Explorer Interceptors and this is their design.

That only changed due to some pansy arse politicians and generals and cost people their lives, but those politicians and generals aren’t on the battlefield so they don’t care.

I saw an interview with one of these wack job police reform types the other night who made that very statement. She said police should be required to wait until shot at before being allowed to fire. She said it is the only way to be sure they shoot people who deserve it. She also stated that, yes, this will cause some police to die but that is what they sign up for. Only certain people can perform this pretzel logic.

Unsecured gun in readily accessible location for detainees to reach (as is evidenced by its ready accessibility by a detainee).

These arent the best and brightest.
