Have you ever heard of an "economist"?

There's a rig reporting those type of winds, but the plane hasn't found much to support 100 mph so far.

NHC fear mongering over hurricanes has really failed Americans in teaching them how hurricanes work and how its impacts are felt.

I think it more has to do with the pandemic screwing things up and how uncertain things are in the Atlantic this year. You're looking at a historic year that's not close to over yet.

48 hours before the storm, and where they had the landfall prediction is now expected to have virtually nothing, and where landfall may actually happen wasnt even in their cone

Im not saying we should murder them, but what would you call it?

For starters, it hasn’t made landfall.

48 hours before projected landfall around midnight Wednesday was last night at 10pm update. That cone clearly had Mobile and Mobile Bay in it.

A hurricane watch has been in effect to the MS/AL border since 5pm Saturday.

If you’re in Mobile and this storm surprises you, blame your media, not the NHC. They’ve always been a distinct possibility.

Lastly, there are minimal impacts west of landfall. Shocker, I know.

But yeah the strongest winds are in a narrow band at the center of the storm so you won't see those until it makes landfall. You can get some pretty good gusts in the rain bands once those start moving on shore but it won't be anything too crazy.

Gotta reduce those windspeeds, since the sonde catches gusts.

Also think a little more north movement.

Maybe. Have my doubts. Probably less than 6 mph?

I'm talking recently. Next couple hours will tell.

I get that, but they also make an adjustment for the fact they’re probably not sampling the absolute highest winds either.

Point being, I’d be a little surprised if they come down on the winds with such a recent data point to consider. Maybe they do though.
