If you need to go, go. Just let your travel dept know you are extending for a couple of days to take care of some personal business over the weekend. The staying over a weekend may reduce the fare significantly anyway.

My thought exactly....why hide it. I used to tell my boss when I did this and never had a problem.
If you are open about what you do, you never have to backtrack.

If you're a good rep and successful, just tell your boss about your plan. I learned a long time ago that it's never worth it to worry about getting caught, especially if you are a good rep. Good reps have more leeway than their peers.

Hell, I've scheduled back to back trips before and instead of flying home gone somewhere else to vacation/meet with friends.

Had a similar situation one time on a business trip to Philadelphia . My company gave us the option to fly up on Saturday for our Monday meeting and pay for our hotel Saturday night. A Saturday flight saved the company enough for them to pay for the extra hotel night. A group of us rented a car and had a great time visiting the Pennsylvania Amish country.

Good planning and your boss won't care one bit if he's not an idiot.
