It’s just insane in this world that police have to respond to pieces of shite who are on welfare and their kids are on welfare and their great grandkids will be on welfare:
Who gets the money from the civil suit?
Trust until the kids are of age or does the mom get it to raise them with?
If they get any part of it now will it be considered income?
Would that income offset any welfare / snap benefits?

Wasn’t referring to this thread as much as people in general. I’m just curious as to how anyone doesn’t realize the shooting is his own fault.

It's not exactly a great look for BRPD when Salamoni rolls up on the scene yelling "I'll shoot you in the head mother fricker!" That part I suppose gives them the out they were looking for as far as training and temperament goes.
Agree that Salamoni handled the situation poorly but we do not know if he had prior dealings with Sterling and knew his past, On the other hand this is like the picture perfect example of how not to handle a situation with law enforcement when you have been accused of brandishing a weapon and are a known felon with a loaded handgun on your person.

bullshite. Rolling up on the situation when the guy was not being combative and then threatening to blow his brains out
For frick’s sake man. Read and watch the content posted in this thread by the media. The police officers were responding to a call of an armed man threatening someone with a gun, not directing traffic at a concert.

So you’re saying the officer handle the situation properly and according to protocol? Or did he massively deviate from it?
The officer escalated the situation.
Sterling was in the wrong. The officer was in the wrong

I know the US Attorney General, under Obama for that matter, and the LA Attorney General said actions were justified.

I'm not going to lie, that video was a bit different than how I thought it would be. It went 0 to 100 instantly when the 2nd cop got there.
I'm baffled as to what the first cop did wrong though.

Way to avoid the question. They said the shooting was justified. The shooting was justified, in my opinion. I’m not talking about the shooting. Nor are most people in this thread.

Also, a 2009 incident exactly like 2016, except the gun fell out of Alton's pocket early on.. and the cops got control. And, Alton was on cocaine and about 10 other drugs that night. Dealing with people on drugs, you don't know what their next move is.

what rules did he break?
That's what I'm wondering. If there isn't anything in his employment agreement/handbook/etc. that can concretely be pointed to as the reason, a jury can construe that as a wrongful termination. Now, the wording in the policies available to everyone can be as simple as a "conduct unbecoming" clause that would cover it, but this being Baton Rouge, I really wonder if there's anything in writing that the department had in place at the time and can cite as the reason.
I used to work with a guy who got fired when he was caught sharing his dick with one of the women who worked with accounting. They would come to work in the very early AM to get their bone on and hide the affair from their SO's. Of course, this was a terrible idea and the company got them on film "testing the mechanical integrity of his desk" (Seriously. That was in the witness report).
He wasn't fired for fricking at work, though. There was absolutely nothing in the employee handbook that even remotely covered "don't put your dick in the bean counter at the office" so the company didn't so much as mention that in the termination proceedings to avoid any possibility of a lawsuit. They hung the dude because he would clock in when he did it, they had timestamped video of him most definitely not working while on the clock, and misuse of company time or time fraud WAS concretely covered and spelled out in the handbook. The hussy from accounts receivable was not fired because she was not clocking in while turning out though she later quit on her own because, well, that shite's embarrassing.

Besides the fact that he failed to comply, if he wouldn't have been illegally carrying a firearm and threatening someone with it this never would have happened.

I don’t think anyone in this thread disagrees with that.

Actually, the Justice Department told the family he didn’t follow protocol but didn’t meet criminal definition

Avoid the question? The actions of the officers were justified. That was the ultimate conclusions to the investigations

history and crime and being dangerous with a gun on cocaine and not complying...all happened so fast, cops tried to get him to comply , he simply didn't

Wrong. They said the shooting was justified. The Justice Department indicated that he did not follow protocol. He was fired for deviating from protocol. The chief made that clear.
