Safety or security from street violence..

Just thinking ahead to 11/3/2020.
I am not certain that the protests that night will not eclipse all that have occurred this year to date no matter the outcome..
Outcome 1 and celebrations of the groups who fomented violence this year will turn to worse violence out of a sense of entitlement. Think about folks that are yelling for whitefolks to give them their homes and money. They will feel like they got approval and feel even more emboldened.
Outcome 2 and you are dealing with people with an infantile mindset who would rather kill others and burn their property rather than accept the result.
As a bit of paranoia is at least a smallfactor in a longer life, I already made plans for my college age kids to be in the right place on election day. One goes to school next to Downtown LA. He and a few friends now have a place in a less dangerous area if it looks as if it needed.
I am not certain how bad New Orleans could get as we tend to have very lazy citizens. Look at the comparedly minor protests here this year. Nevertheless, my Uncle north of the lake who has a walk-in gun vault may see my face that night if it looks bad.
I look forward to the downvotes of those that think 11/3 will be uneventful. I hope you are right and I deserve them. I do fear that ir might be like the folks that said Katrina would miss New Orleans.

If there is some sort of dispute over the validity of the election, things could get ugly.

We have a baby due on Nov 4th.
I’m pretty worried.

There are contingencies in place.

I bought my first rifle recently.
I know how to shoot, but just never thought I "needed" one until recently.

There is "dispute" over the last election. Things will get ugly in November.

That will be alleged by the media even if it did not exist.
Not to get too political but I know folks are looking at the polls thinking this election if over. Polls were flawed in 2016 and are exponentially worse now. Pollsters are having to contact a multiple of folks in some groups to attempt to get a sample yet Dems are still getting oversampled. And even from those that pick up a phone from a pollster, how many folks who are going to vote for a certain candidate will admit that when folks who say they are going to do such are losing jobs, being listed on public sites and even being physically attacked?
Groups like Soccer Moms love to virtue signal on their Facebook. They want to be good people and have others see them that way. But when they see "protesters" rioting and burning buildings and then see elected leaders giving in to their demands to have less police. they vote security first even if they will not admit it. THat is showing up in focus groups and it is why one party appears panicked even with a lead.

You need a shotgun or pistol for home security. A rifle will work but is not as useful in close quarters. Youtube

Claymore mines will be protecting my immediate area.

What is the rule on the length of a barrel for a shotgun? I’ve seen some at academy that are like pistol grip and pretty short. They look badass and seem good for home defense. But I’m not trying to get Randy Weaver’d.

I don't think we'll see much in the South aside from maybe Austin or Atlanta. If we see anything in Louisiana it will be confined to the poor neighborhoods of Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
The big hotspots will be on the West Coast. Portland and Seattle will definitely explode into anarchy for a short time. I wouldn't be shocked to see riots in LA and Chicago as well.
Anyone in those areas should definitely go vote but then go home and arm up.

ANTIFA/BLM continues to grow and they obviously have some large dollar donors providing them with orders/intelligence.
A person would have to be foolish to not have firearm(s) and ready to defend his/her family/property in these very worrying times...
