"Safety and Security" Line Item on Vehicle Sticker

I viewed a proposed vehicle purchase price which was broken down into various line items, including TT&L. One line item was for "Safety and Security." Anyone know what that is for? Thank you.

Just a guess, but is that what used to be called "Dealer Prep"? What was the charge for that?

Probably some package which consists of an alarm, a backup cam, and some safety sensors

Because the interaction with the dealership has been virtual rather than in-person and I thought someone on this board might know.

Did not see a "dealer prep" line item.

I'm pretty sure that term has been done away with. I bought a car that had that added to it and when I questioned it, I was told it was more or less a last look at it to make sure everything was installed, working and clean.
I think all they did was add the Dealer sticker to it and run it through a car wash

This car wash would cost> $1500.

Yeah you should look into that

Oh no, then that is something totally different.

What vehicle? Is it on the main sticker or on an addendum sticker?

My use of "sticker" may have been improper. The figures were contained in a "chart," which looks similar to a vehicle sticker, that the dealership emailed me.

NOBODY CAN ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT frickING CAR YOU ARE LOOKING AT.

This is the line that you read and tell the dealership to go frick themselves and go elsewhere.

It’s a scam dealers run to jack up the price. They might claim it involves “window etching” to help Id call or maybe engraving VIN in different place in case vin in regular location is rubbed off or maybe claiming to augment alarm from factory. Different dealers use different explanations for this but no matter what they use, it’s something you don’t need and is only there to jack up the price.

So you are incapable of asking the question via e mail or phone call?
