He could just go ahead and pass his girlfriend over to the OT girlfriend share pool. She'd be in good hands and I know he'd rest easy knowing that she was well taken care of.

If he gets to half a tank in his truck and he sees a gas station, fill up. Long way between towns down near the Valley.

That's more west Texas than the Valley

Tell him to swing by Best Stop on his way to Texas and grab 10lbs of fresh Boudin. Break it out after his first shift worked and share with the other hands.... He will be liked by all
Solid move there.
Glad I never made a rotation down to that shitehole in South TX to build a pipeline even though we have an office there and it stays busy. Spent all my time building them in Mansfield, LA and Ft. Worth, TX when those 2 shale booms hit. Not to far from civilization....
Watch your 6 for cartel activity though in South TX.

Would you want to live there?

It all depends on where you have to live. You could live in San Antonio or Corpus and it wouldn't be bad at all. As far as the current booms go that's pretty good when compared to ND where there is nothing and it's cold as frick
And even if you're in some shitty small town you probably aren't too far a drive from San Antonio or Austin for when you're off.

My buddy is looking at working in the oil fields. Any suggestions on what type of job an unskilled guy can get?

Those guys working land rigs aren't driving 60 miles to work, they usually live pretty close.

Those are old wells more than likely. They may let you drill in some places, but the regulation makes it too much of a headache to be worthwhile really.

they live on the location while they are there.
they drive home when the hitch is over. 14 and 14 fro most reputable drilling outfits. There are some smaller outfits that are local, but they mainly do workovers and water wells.

Yes I am. I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was. Let's just say I'm mature. I actually covered a lot of ground throughout S. La, back in the day and I may have come across your mom.

They should use that in safety training.

Tell him to google oilfield service and drilling companies in Lafayette and go down there and apply.

Watch and learn and absorb as much as possible. Always stay 3 steps ahead of what is currently happening.

Drilled for 6 months in California last year. They just changed the permit process and it is very difficult to get a permit to drill. Almost all of the work is re-entry work (doesn't require a new permit).

I don't know what's worse, S Texas or North Dakota.
I chose to go back to Africa over those two options.
