Lol, let me just name drop some Iranian-Americans who were imprisoned.

Also, Laura Ling's imprisonment was a massive case a decade ago, was it not?

I don't care if you think I'm full of shite. I've followed ME politics for a decade and written thousands of posts about the subject. You can go through them if you can understand them.

Awful lot of words to pussy out.

But Russia already has rules about transport for personal use or without purpose of sale, and Griner's sentence far exceeds those stipulations.

She wasn't charged with that and pleaded guilty to smuggling. I don't know how else to explain it for you. She isn't in the US system. It isn't going to do what the US system does and she doesn't have the rights she has here.

Because that is what the Russian criminal code refers to when it describes the heavier sentences.

Why would Griner in her appeal say the following:
quote:

I was barely over the significant amount [of cannabis oil]. People with more severe crimes have gotten less than what I was given,” she said, according to Reuters. “I did not intend to do this.”

If the amount was as insignificant toward her sentence as you claim?

Again, her words:

I suppose you are more familiar with the laws that she is dealing than her and her lawyers though.

Do you think 0.7 grams of cannabis oil reaches the threshold established in the definition for 'large-scale' in the Russian criminal code?

What I think is irrelevant. Why did she say what she said?

But you have to read the law as if you were Russian

Not with American basis

Article 2291(2)(c) says a "significant amount". But this is actually the lowest possible offense. There is no lesser offense and all amounts fall under this at a minimum.

There is no prescribed amount that this cuts off or is acceptable. Thus any amount is significant.

You just arent reading it the right way.

Are you sure? In Texas it may be illegal depending on the concentration and form.

I'm pretty sure Rog is referring to the amount of cannabis that is decriminalized, in total grams. If the amount of cannabis oil is 0.6 grams allowed, I apologize, of course, but that certainly doesn't meet the definition of the 'large-scale' I posted above, in which the amount exceeds the average one-time consumption dose by 10 times, does it?

Ah yes, Russia, a country famous for its adherence to laws and not gangsterism.

She smuggled it, bleeding heart. With intent to traffic. She pleaded guilty.

I love a winner, you love your losers. You don't want to feel alone.

Go to Russia and protest. I'll even buy you a ticket to go protest, maybe even pack your bags for you.

I'm just hospitable.

Don't smuggle illegal substances with the intent to distribute.

Voila. No issues.

You already posted a version of the unformatted Russian criminal code. If you go to the UN, you can find a formatted version which includes two notes at the bottom of Article 228, the second of which defines 'large-scale.'

quote:

There is no prescribed amount that this cuts off or is acceptable. Thus any amount is significant.

Why the frick can't you just answer the question without rambling off?

Again, too pussy to actually answer.

We all get why you refuse to actually answer anything.

Here's the deal. She was caught dead to rights. She pleaded guilty to the offense. Whether we like the Russian justice system or approve of the law doesn't matter. She was subject to their laws and is now at their mercy.

he has no clue how to speak to humans. He's way far down the spectrum.

It takes him two paragraphs to even get to a point. Smarter people are succinct in their answers.

Well, I certainly don't trust the Russian justice system's version of fairness, especially when that same quote from Griner points out that other people have seemingly gotten less stringent sentences for 'more severe crimes.'
