Probably not much. This is something a lot of countries do. We're actually more of the exception when it comes to this practice.

Russia has military units whose sole purpose is to march in parades like this, complete with all their equipment, which is combat non-functional.

I mentioned them earlier in the VE Day parade. They call them the "Taman Guard". They're the Russian version of our "Old Guard" (3rd Inf Reg) except they're an entire motorized rifle division.

True, but the 3d INF is a regular regiment and has other functions in addition to its ceremonial duties. Detachments have served overseas in support of the GWOT.
