#2 military in the world and they can't knock out much weaker opponent in the first round even when fighting 1 on 1.

https://www.globalfirepower.com/countries-listing.php

The first and most imperative necessity in war is money, how can you fight when you're broke? Even with massive oil & gas reserve with 11% of the world's land mass (largest country on earth), their entire GDP is lower than South Korea's GDP. In terms of land size, state of Indiana is larger than South Korea.
Russia's land size is 171 times larger than South Korea!

Hitler thought the same thing after seeing the Red Army struggle with little ole Finland in the Winter War of 1939-40. It's been three days. That conflict lasted for four months.

On the world stage, yes.

But they are big enough to cut the head off of Ukraines government.

The US media is pumping up the ukraine defense as a calculated propoganda measure. It rallies europe and republicans and democrats against the invasion (there would be less rally if the world sees ukraine as a huge underdog not likely to sustain its government).

I am pro ukraine. But i dont see the government lasting 2 weeks.

They do appear to be very sloppy and disorganized so far.

Just stop. On day four of operations in Iraq the US was still fighting in Basra and Nasiriyah mostly against a far shittier Army, and note this was Tank country.

BTW I'm surprised Putin launched the attack in Spring, since the armor has to stay confined to roads mostly, but there may have been a political or strategic reason for this.

Not owning the air by now js a little surprising but they are clearly trying to not completely destroy Ukrain in the process of invading which factors into the speed

This is a big reason for the invasion.
A country struggling economically is not deterred by economic sanctions.

If russia cannot grow within, it looks to grow on the outside of its borders.

No

They’re not

Ukraine is a real country.

Russia isn’t going to defeat them in a week. What is wrong with you idiots.

Also Russia isn’t going scorched earth. They are doing targeted missions.

Do you see them absolutely leveling cities? No.

They want to minimize collateral damage and not kill Ukrainian civilians.

They could decimate Ukraine if they decided to.

Some of you people. I swear.

They could nuke Ukraine off the face of the earth if they wanted to and there is nothing anyone could do about it.

Not really.

The Russian military has the will and know how to destroy Ukraine and could easily do it. They're trying not to but if push comes to shove, Russia will do what it needs to do and make no apologies for it.

Also, unlike the west. The Russian people have a high tolerance for war and all the bullshite that comes with it. They're taught their wartime history and they're proud of it.

What folks forget about though is the organized crime angle. Organized crime is a major social and political player in Russia and I mean major. Figure out what the Russian mob wants out of all this and you'll figure out how long it all lasts.

They also didn’t kill as many civilians as Iraq invasion and didn’t destroy the city to rebuild it.
