I disagree about homosexuality being a choice. That may be true for some, but there is undoubtedly a genetic component to sexual orientation. Scientists are already actively identifying genes, gene modifications, and environmental factors related to sexuality.

So it is a genetic abnormality? Like Downs Syndrome?

It means that if one has a strong enough belief in something they can and will find reason to justify their belief. Man is a great propensity for rationalizing everything under the sun. There are those who would never under any circumstance allow themselves to admit to super natural forces or other such things that they cannot comprehend in their own rational mind.

And this relates to the topic at hand how?

A mutation may present an advantage in one environment, but not another. I really don't have the space to go into everything.

I understand that, and like I said, I'm probably thinking about this too literal - kind of like going from bag phones, digital cameras, PDAs, etc. to one all-encompassing smartphone now. As the product evolved, it became just as good as the previous model PLUS something else each time, and eventually that model filled multiple voids. That may be simplistic but something along those lines was what I was trying to convey.

Fortunately for those other primates, humans have now placed "not making other primates extinct" on their list of desired outcomes. It's not like all of the lessor primates would just commit mass suicide upon observing that there is a better model out there...they're going to keep fricking and eating and shitting, then when they come into conflict with the better model, they either die or find somewhere else to frick, eat and shite.

Well said.

Well in some cases it is true. There are more extinct species throughout history than currently exist.

You also have to understand that "evolution" doesn't just stop. It is constantly in motion and things evolve over thousands and thousands of years.

I think this is Rush's point. You say it does not stop but it did or so it would seem. Primates were evolving but now do not. Or did you find some new ones somewhere out there?

Wait. Why do you think it stopped?

The difference is that bag phones have no desire to reproduce and not die. If so, they would've continued to exist for as long as they could, and the iPhones would now keep them in zoos.

Humans DID NOT evolve from monkeys, and as uncool as it is to be a simpleton like myself, I remain in the belief that humans have ALWAYS had dominion over animals.

The theory of evolution does not argue that humans evolved from monkeys. That is where most people become confused. The theory of evolution suggests that humans have a common ancestor with species of monkeys that exist today.

And some elements of environmental factors. Like thinking that it is acceptable to put ketchup on a hotdog.

That's assuming that sexuality is binary, which is obviously a faulty assumption

That was one of the stupidest things I've ever read. Congrats.

Not THE stupidest mind you. There has been way worse said in these threads.

He's establishing precedent for the fact that evidence is irrelevant. All anything is based off of is strong emotions. If you can't rationally argue something then you debunk ration.
