Yeah I'd be fine with rural living and having some land but barren brush and tornadoes isn't quite what I had in mind

Spoda has done videos across the US. His videos of Lafayette and the MS Coast are especially good. Go figure, while filming in New Orleans right by Charity Hospital, he got accosted by bums who called him racist when he didn’t give them $$$.

Wait, you think someone on a Louisiana based message board isn't familiar with rural towns in America?

Speaking as someone who grew up in rural Louisiana, I will say that the term “rural” took on new meaning for me after spending time working in some of the less-populated parts of Texas.

There are only two LA parishes with less than 10 people per square mile: Tensas and Cameron. Cameron Parish is a bit misleading because so much of the “land” area is actually uninhabitable. Tensas Parish is probably more rural, and certainly further from major population centers.

But compare that with Texas, where there are large swaths of multiple counties with <10 people per square mile, and more than 10 counties with <1 person per square mile. It’s a lot different.

You drive an hour or two to the nearest Walmart once a month for groceries.

Exactly. Been like this in small towns for many years. Even 50 years ago in my tiny Bienville Parish town, people went to Shreveport, Minden, or Ruston to do most of their shopping. Groceries at the little grocery store in town were just too expensive and it was cheaper to go to the bigger place. All the little businesses in the towns started dying their slow deaths.

All of these things in the videos are why I've said so many times that small town life isn't what it seems. There's many more places like these videos than the cute little towns are the posters here seem to idealize. They mostly only exist on TV.

Things changed a lot when families started owning 2 cars instead of 1.

I've watched many of his videos. His wife/SO that travels with him is in some of the videos. She has a bangin' body, a very nice rack. In his video from the Orange Beach area, she appears in the video in a bikini.

If the population is only 64 (which I think you’re right about) then I highly doubt 60 voted.

And since you said loving county I have to.

Well, l walked in that bar and I drank myself crazy
Thinking about her and that man
When in walked a woman, looking richer than sin
And ten years worth of work on her hand
Well, I followed her home and when she was alone
Well, I put my gun to her head
And I don't recall what happened next at all
But now that rich woman, she is dead
Now I drive down the highway
Ten miles from my sweet baby's arms
And the moon is so bright it don't look like night
And the diamond how it sparkles in the lights of loving county

If I made $50k working from home I could live pretty damn nice in West Texas, outside of Midland/Abilene/Amarillo/canyon/San Angelo

But it also means you can choose where you work, and thus people will look for amenities and infrastructure for their social life, as well as easy transportation to their home office if required.

Some people prefer small rural towns away from all that and you can probably rent out an office in one of these towns for a hundred dollars a month.

Lytle is right outside San Antone. If you think that was bad I can’t imagine what you would think of west or Deep South texas

There's plenty of water. You just have to drill 750ft through rock to reach it. Good water once you can access it.
