I'm forced to have one of these for work, and I run with it. You'll get used to running with an iPad eventually.

I can't run with a phone. I figure on the road and running paths, someone will find me in an emergency and it's not worth the weight for music.
Only time I do, is when I'm running trails in the woods where no one might find me if I broke an ankle or something. There, I'll run with a handheld water bottle that has a pouch that will hold my work Iphone (old small one) and my keys. You may be able to squeeze a larger phone in there
