Do all bank repossessed vehicles get sent to auction? Just curious

I'm fairly certain that you can't repossess vehicles in Louisiana. I don't think self help is available for a creditor. You have to go to court and get a writ of fifa. That's the best explanation as to why Louisiana doesn't have Cajun Repo or some other "reality show" based on repo men.

What's your take on this guys situation

$5000 worth of accessories on a motorcycle seems like a good solid financial decision when you work in a volatile industry.

I know of several Credit Unions that regularly sell off repo'ed rolling stock (boats, cars/trucks/rvs, four wheelers, etc.) but usually don't make any great deals. I USED to know a CFO of a Credit Union and that wasn't a bad deal....

I don't even think it was a road bike. It seems like its a dirt bike or ATV.

There is a large firm in NOLA that disagrees with you. They cover the whole state and repo vehicles for creditors.
I am not sure of the legal side and if it must go through sheriff sale like real estate but I see vehicles listed constantly in sheriff sale listings.

I just looked it up. You can do it, but you have to jump through plenty of hoops. So much so that it is almost easier to just go through the court system.

I made an edit to my post.
I will tell you that the firm from NOLA would rather get you to pay your note than to actually get the vehicle back. They make more that way from the creditors. I know a girl that works there and she has told me stories.

Let me be clear. By repossess, I mean by using a repo man, i.e., someone other than the sheriff.

It's all over my Facebook as well.
One thing that I found hilarious, while what repo guy did is a total dick move I found it funny that instead of contacting the bank and/or police he apparently immediately sent the Internet police on the guy. This all happen after business hours today. I'd think any sensible person would at least contact the lien holder and perhaps the cops and make an attempt to go through the proper authorities before turning him over for Internet justice. Both dudes look like asses right now, repo guy for what he did, Maverick owner for Facebook chest pounding.

Yes someone other than a sheriff can come repo your vehicle in Louisiana. IIRC that place in NOLA pays like $300 per vehicle which isn't worth getting shot at.

Yea, you can, but it's very restricted. Much more so than other states.

I have no idea what point you were trying to make

I wasn't trying to make any point. I thought you couldn't repossess in Louisiana. I was wrong. You can do it, it's just more difficult to do it here than in other states.
