Meh, a mixed drink in a traditional 24 oz tumbler is going to melt within an hour or so. I've owned Tervis cups, and while better than most, they're not comparable to the metal insulated cups.

As any drinker will tell you, you don't need it to hold ice for 12 hours, but if it holds ice for 12 hours, that means very little, if any, will melt in the 30 minutes you take to drink. I enjoy the fact that the last sip is as good as the first.

GOAT vacuum insulated bottles: Hydroflask

Hydroflasks are awesome. I picked up a few of them from REI a few years ago. Never hear them mentioned much even though they're a superior and cheaper alternative to Yeti, but I guess that's b/c people are sheep.

Very well said. No matter the beverage.

To be fair, if HF makes an insulated tumbler type cup, I haven't seen it yet. All bottles. You can get a flip cap, which gets you partly there. But when I'm drinking a beer or something, I never think to break out a HF over Yeti/RTIC/Stanley/etc.

Although obviously they need to start making them, I'd definitely buy one.

Yeah, I assumed they existed before, but Tervis really set the stage in that overall market and then Yeti and others did the same with metal cups. I'm genuinely surprised Tervis didn't and still doesn't make metal cups. They had the brand power already.

Yeah, given that Tervis somehow has brick and mortar stores and they somehow stay in business despite the cups being available literally everywhere, that is a lot of brand power.

I have to think they could bridge the gap by improving the quality of their lids and construction(w/o going to all metal), which would be interesting.

How do I go about trademarking the phrase "The first sip is as good as the last"?

Or the "The last sip is as good as the first"?

Good luck with that

But that line sounds so familiar..........it HAD to have been used already in advertising somewhere.

Or maybe it's foggy jumbled up remembrances of things I've said to women back in my single days.

I fill my 30 oz tumbler in the morning before work with tea. I just sip it all day long. At the end of the day, sometimes 12 to 16 hours later my drink is still cold. I have a yeti and I have the kind that we bring in, both work equally as well.

Also, I've filled it with coffee in the morning and it stays hot until the last drop. I normally drink coffee slow, and my normal coffee gets fairly cold when I use a regular mug.

Has anyone seen/have a RTIC soft sided cooler? Based on the other products, I'm sure it's comparable to Yeti.

Would like a soft cooler that doesn't leak... Not paying $300 for a soft cooler.

Check out the Coleman Xtreme 6 Marine coolers. It has held ice just as well as my brother in laws Yeti at a fraction of the price.

The polar bear coolers on Amazon are pretty beastly, don't leak, and are at the very top end for insulation. They probably can't match the Yeti or an RTIC (if it is in fact very similar to the Yeti), but for "soft cooler" jobs, they are exceptional.

I agree. Probably don't keep ice AS LONG as YETI/RTIC but that's b/c the insulation is half as thick. I have a Polar Bear backpack cooler and a 24 pack AO Cooler and love them both. They don't sweat and they keep my drinks cold all day long.

The only knock I've had with Tervis is that they all eventually crack. But they have awesome lifetime warranty service. I've probably sent back a dozen or so over the years. One will crack, and I toss it in a box in the basement. When the box is full, I pay around $10 to ship it to them, and within a week I have 4 replacements. They will keep coffee relatively hot for an hour and a half, but once it starts to go cold, it does so quickly. I'll be driving down the interstate and have a warm sip, but 5 minutes later it is cold. The Yeti doesn't seem to do that.

Tervis Water bottles suck though. The lid is hard to snap back into place, they're too tall for the dishwasher, and seem more flimsy and prone to cracks than the regular Tervis and the Big Tervis. My wife had a couple that were gifts, and they were collecting water and cracking at the top within 3 months. And that wasn't from dishwasher use, because they won't fit in there. She loves her HydroFlask and CorkCicle tumblers though.

At this point, I'm almost ready to toss all of our Tervis cups in the trash. I never use them for coffee on my commute anymore, I never use them for a glass of water on the nightstand, and about the only time they get used is for sitting out in the yard with a drink. Even then, I find myself using a Yeti or my Mossy Oak tumbler. I can pour a cold beer into a Tervis or a Yeti, and it stays much colder in the Yeti. Personalization is also what made Tervis. All of the collegiate cups, initials, different logos, and the warranty. They still give them out at work with our company logo. I have a few of them.

All of my Tervis eventually get cloudy. I've looked around and it appears to be a not uncommon problem. Some say it might have to do with sunscreen?

Anyway, they work alright but I never want to take them anywhere because they look dirty.

Definitely sunscreen. My wife tried a new water bottle last year at the pool. It left a huge handprint on it that we can't get to wash off. Apparently she took a sip right after putting sunscreen on the kids and herself. Spray sunscreen seems to be worse than the lotion.
