I'm starting to think it may be that there may be a correlation to growing up feeling lonely/isolated in terms of interpersonal experiences IRL vs online. Hard to put into words - but here goes:

Rough/Pain-seeking is not my thing - but I have encountered a few who hinted they may want to explore in that direction. I think "Daddy/childhood abuse issues" could reasonably be attributed to half of them... but the other half - The exact opposite. There seemed to be a sheltered/detached element to their upbringing... Some were solitary/social late-bloomers during HS/college experience. Others seemed to have (or until recently had) social lives that were more online than IRL for various reasons (recently divorced, relocated by employer, connecting with a subculture). Basically - They have lived their lives kinda numb and lacking in stimuli - So they tend to want to overdo it and FEEL EVERYTHING as IMMEDIATELY AS POSSIBLE.

Pain-seekers, if you are reading this - Have you ever been with somebody and found yourself thinking "You take too long to hit a G-Spot... Just punch me in the face and fire up my 'ol receptors."
