It doesn't matter if they get more money from the insurance company. The roofer can not pay your deductible.

That's me stealing $20 bucks from you and paying you back $10.

Some roofer should come up with a roof replacement subscription plan. 200 dollars or more depending on your roof a month.

You get a free roof replacement if damaged by a storm. Free roof repairs if it leaks. Free roof replacement every 15-20 years.

Best part you are not dependent on your homeowners insurance for your roof.

Mine was $1500. Roofer worked it in.

And this is why insurance companies will stop offering full replacement on roofs and why they're yanking roofers licenses around here .

Mine was $1000 after Ida. I’ve since upped it to try to offset premium increases.

Nobody said anything about "paying" the deductible. They said "reduce" your deductible. Big difference.

There are state laws that determine if "subscriptions" or "protections plans" or whatever you call them are technically insurance and if so said roofer would then have all the reporting and reserve obligations of being considered an insurance provider in the state.

Not really. To "reduce" your deductible, means the roofer gave you an inflated estimate to submit to your adjuster to pay. Then offsets the deductible by doing the work cheaper than he quoted your insurance company for. Still fraud.

Only way its not fraud is if the insurance company paid you based on their adjuster's estimate and you found someone to do the work cheaper than the adjuster's own estimate was for. But insurance companies usually hold back "recoverable depreciation" until after you've either submitted a signed contract or paid receipt from your contractor. If you get the work done cheaper, you won't recoup the depcriation that was held back.

Ignoring the potential legal issues here, that sounds like a great way for a roofer to be declaring bankruptcy or skipping town after the first big storm hits.

And even if that didn't happen, all those "free roof replacement" subscriptions are going to be waiting a long time on their free roofs because they'll be at the back of the line waiting behind customers who are paying regular price with cash or a normal claim through their homeowners insurance.

And this is different than insurance how?
Or do you want roofers to offer 0% installment loans for 15-20 years.

I don’t recall my regular deductible at the moment, but my hurricane deductible was about what they paid for my roof replacement after Ida. Almost 7k. I found a new insurer.

For those who have gotten a new roof after storm damage. What was your insurance deductible?

Looks like ours is around $3600. Is this around the average?

That's almost exactly what we paid for my mom's roof a couple months ago. Before Francine.

Get State Farm, Allstate, or Safeco. They will refuse to pay anything so you won’t have to worry about a deductible.

For the low price of your husband or a nice tailgating trailer stuffed with nice bikes and coolers, then tOT has a couple recommendations for roofing contractors.

We had a bad hail storm come through earlier this year and pretty much everybody in my area had to get a new roof. I paid a roughly $5,000 deductible for mine, which was a 20 year old roof. (Full replacement value). I called my agent about it and he told me my only other choice was to go to a $1,000 deductible, but if a NAMED storm came through and did damage, the deductible would be $10,000.
I also had to handle my mom’s claim (Traveler’s insurance). She lives less than a mile from my house. Her insurance co had a $1,000 deductible. However, the adjuster showed up with 2” fingernails, no ladder, and never even got on the roof. She flew a drone over the house and the report came back 16 squares of shingles short! After FOUR adjusters were assigned to her claim, I finally got one that would listen to me about the incorrect square count. She had me measure the width of one of the garage doors and “re-scaled” their satellite measurements. Guess what? They were 16 squares short.
I didn’t like paying ALFA $5,000, but if I hadn’t stayed on top of Traveler’s, my mom would have wound up paying nearly $8,000 for her roof instead of $1,000. The insurance co makes a big difference in my opinion.
