Would beat cleaning leaves from that tree if you install conventional gutters. I've had the handler on a problem section at a former house. It worked just as advertised.

The next house you build or have built design a simple gable or hip roof and eliminate all these problems. All these designs built since the 80’s have way too many roof slopes creating flashing problems. Not to mention not a lot of people have no idea how to install proper flashing.

If you're talking to me...we built new in a historic neighborhood so we needed to make the house design "fit" the 1910-1930 craftsman look.

Doubtful, but I may go that direction anyway. My dad says we can actually hang them pretty easily.

Why not build an enclosed area where it splashes down, where there is a big container that catches the rain water and you then put a pump on there so that you can reuse the rain water for your plants. Make it look classy on the outside and you can use that as an extra pitch in selling the house and possibly raising the price since they would benefit from the free water.

It is right on on the side of my sidewalk leading to the front door. It would look funky. I am leaning toward doing gutters.

look brother, take my advice or leave it, but as a guy who has lived in a house built in the early 80's with at least a 12 x 20 pitch for 9 years I have learned these lessons...
I have a column supported front porch and no back porch, just concrete. Had No Gutters
The columns in the front were on the verge of being rotten when I bought the house cause the porch stayed wet all the time. By the time I got around to putting gutters in the front, the columns were peeling and completely rotten. I am currently paying a man to replace all 7 columns. The water has stayed off the porch since I put in the gutters, but I was too late.
In the back, the water pours down with a force. It rotted out the door frame to my back door. Slowly my floor inside started to rot. I just payed the same guy to replace the door frame and storm door and replace the rotten wood.
I am going to put a back porch in with water diverted to the yard...otherwise I would put gutters in immediately. The water will just wreck havoc on the wood.
I was o.k. until Harvey here in Houston. I didn't have any standing flood water in the house, but the steady pounding of water for days kept my floor inside my door soaking wet because the frame was rotting from years of being beat down.
Even if you don't keep the house...PUT UP GUTTERS NOW..use it as a selling point to the buyer and explain why they matter
